140 Years of KEHS: An Evening Celebration

On Monday 27th March 2023, 140 Years of KEHS: An Evening Celebration took place at Birmingham Town Hall. The evening was a wonderful celebration of the story of KEHS - past, present and future - as told through a school day.

More than 150 of our students took to the stage at the iconic venue, with performances drawn from Music, Drama, Dance and Poetry, and contributions from many other departments. Current and former members of staff and Old Edwardians were also involved, as were some students and staff from KES. All three of the immediate Past Principals – Ena Evans, Sarah Evans and Ann Clark – contributed to the evening, and we were thrilled that Jenny Herbert, Jean Moule and Debbie Leonard, who will be familiar to so many of you, also took part. Among the Old Edwardians that appeared on stage was Jasmine Gardosi, Birmingham’s Poet Laureate, and there were also various appearances from the world of sport.

The evening featured performances from Lower School Choir, Chamber Choir, String Ensemble, Swing Band and the Dance Production, and there was chance to enjoy some of the show-stopping numbers from the recent Senior Production – the highly-acclaimed Little Shop of Horrors.

At the event we also launched out 140th anniversary appeal. With £70,000 matched funding available we aim to fund at least one more Assisted Place for September 2024. Giving another girl the opportunity to walk through our doors. Indeed we only need around 140 people to give just £14 per month over three years to reach our target.
