140th Anniversary Reunion 2023

On Saturday 17th June 2023, we held a very special 140th Anniversary Reunion. to help us celebrate the School's 140th Anniversary where we had over 70 OEs attend as well as some Former Staff.

The day began with a Bucks Fizz reception on arrival followed by the AGM which included a welcome and an update of the school from Principal, Kirsty von Malaisé. We were also very pleased to have Foundation Archivist, Charlotte Gallant, deliver a talk to guests on 'The History of KEHS, as recorded in the Foundation Archive'. Charlotte spoke on the discussions surrounding 'what is an archive' as well as the beginning of the Foundation of King Edward VI. The talk was also filled with lots of photos of the history of KEHS as well as particular items that are stored in the Archive (which had everyone feeling very nostalgic!) The talk referenced the very early days of KEHS right up until the move to the current location, just off Edgbaston Park Road.

Following the talk, guests headed to the Dining Hall for lunch where they were served with a delicious afternoon tea selection. There were also various archive materials on display which captured guests attention straight away and had them perusing for quite a while!

The afternoon was filled with tours of KEHS, the highlights of the 140th Town Hall production and of course the very special 140th Exhibition which was put together by the BGOEC Committee. After lunch, guests were split into groups, some for tours and some for the 140th exhibition, but of course stopping at lots of places along the way allowing everyone to reminisce. Everyone was pleased to see the new facilities as well as the old labs and classrooms that they all know so well.

The day was a great success and was filled with lots of catching up and reminiscing on happy memories!
