Diamond & Golden Anniversary Reunion 2023

Our Diamond and Golden Anniversary Reunion was held on Saturday 18th March 2023 where we had 40 OEs attend, 20 from KEHS and 20 from KES. This was a joint event across both King Edward VI High School for Girls and King Edward’s School.

The day began separately with welcome tea and coffee for both schools which for the boys included a welcome address from Keith Phillips, Masterplan Coordinator and Alumni Relations, and for the girls from Kirsty von Malaisé, Principal.

Guests then moved up to the KEHS Lecture Theatre for their joint talk from KES Former head of history, Paul Golightly. Paul touched on the history of both schools and the changing face of the city highlighting how it has changed since the 60’s and 70’s.

Following Paul Golightly’s talk, Kirsty von Malaisé provided an update on the Masterplan and the future of both KES and KEHS. She read out an extract from a pupil who was looking into the future from the 1983 which significantly marked this occasion.

Following the talk, the girls headed down for lunch whilst the boys perused some archive material in the library, kindly set up by Archivist, Charlotte Gallant.

The afternoon was filled with tours of KEHS for the girls and for the boys & tours of KES which were kindly hosted by prefects from both schools. This was a great opportunity for OEs to reminisce on their school days, visit some of their old haunts and also see how the schools have changed since they were a pupil here.

The day ended with more tea, coffee and cake and the opportunity to participate in some archive interviews. The day was filled with lots of reminiscing on happy school memories and plenty of catching up!
