Symphony Orchestra: 60th Anniversary Concert

*** Pre-sale tickets for Old Edwardians have now sold out! ***

Tickets will go on general sale from February via the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre.

All Old Edwardians are warmly invited to join us to celebrate 60 years of the joint Symphony Orchestra on Monday, 9th March 2020 for a special sexagesimal anniversary concert in the Ruddock Hall.

It’s going to be an event to treasure, not merely as a monument to a great history, but also as a living celebration of the scale, quality, and ambition of music in these schools.

The concerto will be Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’, played by Lauren Zhang (of the sixth form). Lauren is the current BBC Young Musician of the Year, and one of the most important young artists in the world today.

It will include a performance of a new work, Sexagesimal!, curated by Christopher Churcher (of the KES Fifths), but including material from seven other composers, from every year and from both schools.

The programme for the evening is as follows:

KES/KEHS Symphony Orchestra’s Sexagesimal Concert
Monday, 9th March at 7.30pm

  • Christopher Churcher et al: Sexagesimal!
  • Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Piano Concerto no.5 op.73 ‘Emperor’
  • Johannes Brahms (1833-97): Symphony no.3 op.90

Before the concert, at 6.45pm, there will be a reception for Old Edwardians, which we hope many of you will be able to attend; we are extending this special invitation to you before the tickets go on sale to the public, at the end of January.

This concert is expected to sell out and spaces are limited. Old Edwardians are offered advance booking until January 31st. Book now to avoid disappointment!

Please book your ticket below. Full-price tickets cost £5, concessions £2.50, including your place at the private Old Edwardians' reception.
