Jess Butcher - Awards Evening 2017

On Friday 3rd October, we welcomed back the Class of 2017 for Awards Evening, a celebration of the wonderful things they achieved here at KEHS. After a warm reception reuniting with their former teachers, the girls and their families were regaled with a keynote speech from OE Jess Butcher (Class of 1996).

Jess is one of the most influential female businesswomen in the world, named in Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs in 2012 and the BBC’s 100 Women in 2014. Jess is the co-founder of Blippar, the world's leading mobile visual browser, with 60 million users across the globe. Beyond that, Jess has also used her business acumen in the Third Sector, launching Integritour, the first responsible tourism company in Western Kenya, and Hope House, a safe community hub in an area of Sri Lanka devastated by conflict with the Tamil Tigers.

Jess shared her keys for success in this rapidly changing world, encouraging the girls to maintain belief in their unique abilities, to learn continually and to seek to understand different views, and to focus on the things that really matter. Sound advice we can all take!
